Stuyvesant Park

In 1836 Peter Gerard Stuyvesant reserved four acres of the family farm and sold it for five dollars to the City of New York as a public park.  The park is located between 15th Street, 17th Street, Rutherford Place, and Nathan D. Perlman Place. Stuyvesant Square Park is completely accessible and is surrounded by a twisted iron fence.   Bordering the park are two of the neighborhood’s most distinctive buildings, the 1856 neo-Gothic St. George’s Episcopal Church and the Friends Meeting House. Surrounding the park is the rest of Stuyvesant Square which is a great place to live.
