New York Movers Provide Aid to Victims of Hurricane Sandy

In the early part of November, Hurricane Sandy wreaked havoc on several East Coast communities, particularly those in New York and New Jersey. As a result, homes and businesses were destroyed, forcing many people to seek out basic necessities such as food, clothing and shelter. Members of the New York State Movers & Warehousemen’s Association (NYSM&WA) have answered the call for help, providing vehicles, manpower and cartons to organizations and families in need as a result of this disaster.

Shleppers Moving, of Brooklyn, N.Y., provided a truck and crew to help load and deliver donated goods from the community to two locations in Far Rockaway for the people of the Breezy Point neighborhood. Shleppers also provided a truck and crew to load donated items and then deliver them to hurricane victims in Long Island. Shleppers assisted with a Westchester County Association food drive, again providing a truck and crew to help collect donated food and deliver to those in need. Shleppers Moving continues to assist those in need, donating resources to organizations such as the United Way, the West Side Institutional Synagogue and the UJA Federation of New York. Another NYSM&WA member, Santiego Moving & Storage, of Valley Cottage, N.Y., recently provided trucks and moving crews to two charitable organizations, NY Power Team and the American Red Cross. Santiego’s trucks and movers are being used to transport donated items to families affected by the hurricane. These services enabled people still suffering and reeling from the storm to receive relief materials and even Thanksgiving meals.

Other members of the New York State Movers & Warehousemen’s Association, such as Delaney Moving & Storage, of Syracuse, N.Y., are also assisting with hurricane relief by providing portable storage containers to those in need. It has been three weeks since Hurricane Sandy arrived and there are still many families in need of assistance. Companies like Shleppers, Santiego, Delaney Moving and other NYSM&WA members who volunteer their services to help those affected, are great examples of humanitarianism. Keep up the good work, New York movers.

Shleppers made our move pain free and easy. Everyone was a pleasure to deal with. We had to remove a piece of furniture 2 days before the move, and they made it hassle-free. I would definitely use them again!”
