Moving to Stuyvesant Town/Peter Cooper Village

Living in Peter Cooper Village – StuyTown

Stuyvesant Town-Peter Cooper Village is a sizable, private residential development located on Manhattan’s east side. The complex in its entirety hosts 110 brick apartment buildings that stretch over 80 acres from First Ave to Avenue C, specifically between 14th and 23rd streets. This development is split into two parts by 20th Street—with Stuyvesant Town falling to the south, and Peter Cooper Village on the north. The two complexes contain 11,250 apartments in total.

Planning of this post-WWII residential development first began in the early 1940s. Metropolitan Life Insurance Company developed the complex in time for its first building to officially open in 1947.

Stuyvesant Town-Peter Cooper Village has been bought and sold many times, with its most recent sale taking place in 2015. The development was purchased for $5.45 billion by Ivanhoé Cambridge and Blackstone.

Shleppers made our move pain free and easy. Everyone was a pleasure to deal with. We had to remove a piece of furniture 2 days before the move, and they made it hassle-free. I would definitely use them again!”
