It’s National Hot Dog Day!

Hot Dog

America celebrates National Hot Dog Day on Wednesday, July 19th. On this day, the National American Meat Council hosts its annual Hot Dog Lunch on Capitol Hill – a fun event where members of Congress enjoy wieners. Hot dogs are a favorite meal for hard-working professional movers. They’re tasty, fast, and there’s no need for a plate or silverware!

Helping families move all around the country has shown our crew that there’s a surprising number of ways hot dogs are prepared. Each region has its own unique take on the familiar frank.

Which one of these sounds best to you?

The New York Style Hot Dog:
New Yorkers like their hot dogs simple and barely dressed. A squirt of spicy brown mustard and maybe a little sauerkraut or sautéed onions and you’re good to go.

The Miami Style Hot Dog:
Get ready for a spicy snack! Hot dogs in Miami come with pico de gallo, jalapenos, guacamole, and Monterey Jack cheese layered on top. It’s a surprisingly addictive combination and a favorite of our moving crews that help families relocate to Florida.

The Chicago Style Hot Dog:
One of the highlights of a coast-to-coast move can be a quick stop for a classic Chicago-style hot dog. When you order one ‘dragged through the garden’, your hot dog comes topped with yellow mustard, chopped white onions, bright green sweet pickle relish, a dill pickle spear, tomato slices or wedges, pickled sport peppers and a dash of celery salt.

The California Style Hot Dog:
Yes, they eat hot dogs in California – and no, they’re not all organic vegetarian soy dogs – although those are certainly available if you want them. In LA, hot dogs come on a stick, battered and fried corn-dog style. Danger Dogs are also popular – these are grilled dogs, wrapped in bacon, dressed with onion, sweet & hot peppers, ketchup, mustard, and salsa.

The Connecticut Style Hot Dog:
In Connecticut, you can get your hot dog dressed with chili and coleslaw. It’s an entire picnic on a bun! The chili is bean free and the coleslaw’s on the sweet side.

Everyone’s Favorite Hot Dog:
Whether you’ve moved across town, to a new neighborhood, or all the way across the country, one of the best ways to celebrate is to have a cookout in your new place. Grilled dogs dressed exactly the way your family likes them is a meal that can’t be beat!
