Military veterans need a place to live after they’re done serving their country. Wallet Hub, a personal finance and credit score website, did the research and discovered the best cities for veterans to live. They used four criteria when determining their score: employment opportunities for people with military skills, economy, quality of life – including the size and strength of the local veteran community, and health, including the accessibility of VA services. Here are the cities that top the list:

Colorado Springs, CO: Colorado Springs has lots of veterans, rock-bottom veteran unemployment, and high paying aerospace and defense industry jobs. Another bonus: access to fantastic skiing and outdoor recreation – Colorado Springs is known for its great quality of life. A top choice for many USAF vets.
Virginia Beach, VA: Quality of life can’t be beat with fantastic beach living, affordable housing, and great job opportunities for veterans. You’ll find lots of fellow veterans – great for networking, support, or when you want someone to hang out with.
Raleigh, NC: One of the fastest growing cities in America, Raleigh has plenty to offer veterans. The cost of living is very low – especially compared to NYC real estate prices. Veterans who want to work in education and health care will find plenty of opportunities. Great quality of life, with a thriving music and arts community.
Plano, TX: If you’re a vet who wants to settle down and raise a family, Plano is for you. The economy is booming. Plano is only 20 miles outside of Dallas and offers all of the opportunities with a fraction of the crime and problems of big city living. Also? You don’t have to worry about being the new guy in town: Plano is attracting new residents in record numbers.
