Bergen County is New Jersey’s fastest-growing county, with a really diverse population and the high energy vibe that comes from just close enough to Manhattan. There’s a lot to enjoy about life in Bergen County, including a wealth of family-friendly attractions and events. Here’s what we find enjoyable and think you might like as well:
The Bergen County Zoo
Located in Paramus, NJ, the Bergen County Zoological Park has a nice collection of animals, including monkeys and bobcats as well as farmyard favorites. Admission to the zoo is currently free for county residents, as some of the more exotic animals can’t be displayed during the colder months. Special events are scheduled throughout the year, and there are live animal shows in the summer.

Public Skating at The IceHouse
The Ice House in Hackensack, NJ is where aspiring ice skaters and hockey players go to practice. During public skating hours, you can take your turn on the ice. Skate and locker rental is available – no hockey gear on the ice during public skate hours. Great for beginners, and once you have your confidence, check out Friday night’s Skate Jam, with a live DJ and laser light show.
