NYC Fall Festivals: A Fun Way To Get To Know Your New Neighborhood

Fall Trees

If you’ve just moved in NYC, you’ll want to get to know what’s exciting and fun about your new neighborhood. During the fall, there are numerous festivals happening throughout the city. Time Out New York recently reported on them in their report The Best Things to Do In The Fall in NYC and we thought we’d share our thoughts:

The Harvest Fest and Pumpkin Patch

Fall Pumpkins

If you’ve recently moved to Queens, you’ll want to make a point of checking out the Harvest Fest and Pumpkin patch. This is a fun outdoor fresh air event at the Botanical Garden. There are natural walks and bands playing live music. Adult beverages are available and it’s a fun place to meet people.

Dog Costume Contest in Socrates Sculpture Park

Dog in Pumpkin Costume

Ok, there’s also an entire Halloween Harvest thing going on, compete with circus acts, jugglers, stilt walkers and family friendly clowns but THERE IS A DOG COSTUME CONTEST and YOU GET TO DRESS YOUR DOG UP. Also, face painting. What else do you need from an event?

The Halloween Pumpkin Flotilla in Central Park

Children With Pumpkins

Get your HGTV on by carving your own Halloween pumpkin, enjoy a costume contest and take in some scary ghost stories. Central Park is an attraction on its own, of course, but it’s even better when spooky family fun is integrated into the landscape. The Pumpkin Flotilla is a really striking scene: fifty carved pumpkins are illuminated and set afloat in the river. Their progress is a charming sight that you’ll remember for a long time.
