Now we’re starting a new initiative to help local college students move toward their career goals. Every year, we will award FOUR $300 scholarships to local college students who’s parents work at Shleppers Moving & Storage to help them prepare for making our region a better place to live – for everyone!

Step One

Be an undergraduate college student from our service area (Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Bronx, Westchester County and Rockland County) majoring in human services, health care or education.

Step Two

Have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.75.

Step Three

Write an essay of 1,000 – 1,500 words explaining how you plan to help your community once you finish your degree.

Shleppers believes that determined people who work hard have the capacity to change the world. Furthermore, when we provide moving services to charitable organizations, we see first-hand the lengths social workers, health care workers and educators go to in order to make the community a better place to live – for everyone. Therefore we want to support and encourage people who want to make meaningful change.

In your essay, please explain three ways you plan to help the community. We’d like to see specific examples that show your focus and determination. Let us know what you’re truly passionate about.

Because this is a scholarship competition, the quality of your writing matters. Please pay attention to your spelling and grammar. The most important criteria are authenticity and a compelling vision for the future. All essays should be titled “How I am going to help the community after I graduate.”

Application Process

To submit your essay, fill out the form below. Limit one essay per person. All essays must be written in English, and we expect that entrants have written their essay themselves.

Deadline Information

• Essays will be collected on a quarterly basis.
• Winner will be selected  7 days after the previous quarter.

Terms and Conditions:

• The Shleppers Moving & Storage Scholarship award will be submitted to the college that matches the student’s primary .edu email address. The funds from this scholarship must be solely disbursed on tuition, books, supplies, and any additional fees required for the student’s classes.
• After the winner is chosen, enrollment and qualifications will be confirmed.
• If an applicant no longer meets the eligibility requirements at the time of distribution, Shleppers will withhold the award.
• In the event that no applicant meets the scholarship’s requirements for academic achievement and writing aptitude, Shleppers reserves the right to withhold disbursement.
