Over 1,000 canned goods and nonperishable items were collected with the help of Shleppers. Over one thousand people attended the Westchester Remembers 9/11 event at the County Center in White Plains. 776 acts of volunteerism took place between 2pm and 7pm. Now, the Volunteer Center is a finalist for a change grant of $25,000 for next year’s 9/11 service events. “Shleppers was just fantastic and made running this event much smoother than it otherwise would be,” comments Alisa Kesten, Executive Director of the Volunteer Center of United Way.
